The Center for Science and Technology SRL (CITST), which is the subject of the current proposed project as the trader of the final product, is a projects implementing agency oriented toward research and developing innovative products. The company’s goal is to investigate the economic problems of the latest technologies and ICT can be used to address them, and cost-effective solutions reduce deployment time proposal.
The company was founded in 2007 since it’s creation to the present, it has developed innovative solutions for IT in Ambient Assistent Living, Internet of Things. CITST has participated in several national and international projects, including projects that UPB was part of the consortium, which created a good base for an efficient collaboration to achieve with the current proposal.
The main objective of the project is to design and implement a platform that realize a plan of tasks for the different robots available at the trader, executes the defined plans and monitors the robots activities. Robot activity based on this platform should be easily configured, the achieve goals should be programed based on simple behaviors. Such platform allows easy customization of robot’s program but also to generate some specific comportment adapted to some unforeseen circumstances.
CITST wants to make better use of the available robotics technology in the company (Tiago and in the future, Pepper) offering it as a service (rental, leasing) for potential customers.
The envisaged usage scenarios were related to promotion of products and / or assistance in public places such as shopping centers, museums, banks, exhibitions. Thus, for a company that wants to promote a product or class of products, or for a company that wants to provide a robotic assistant for its customers , CITST will customize the actions of the robot according to the task or tasks desired to be realized and rent the customized robot to the company. It is assumed that such a presence in a shopping center, exhibition or trade fair exhibition will be a strong element of attraction.
The project is developed by the laboratory of humanoid robots and drones of the PRECIS research center (Research Center for products, processes and innovative smart services), part of AIMAS Group (Artificial Intelligence and Multi-Agent Systems) within the Department of Computers of the Faculty of Automatic Control and Computers at UPB.
